How could I be born in northern New Mexico and not have a passionate love for the unique flavors of the foods that are only found there? I have tasted Mexican food dishes in Old Mexico, Texas, California and Arizona. I have found that none of them can match the flavors, appearance and smells of my favorite New Mexico food.
At home I remember the aroma of fresh New Mexico green chilies roasting in my mother’s oven. I can close my eyes and still see her cooking the dried New Mexico red chile pods, pureeing them in the blender and then working her magic with the traditional New Mexico seasonings that she added: garlic, onion, cumin, oregano ---- mmmmm, simply heavenly!
Now that I’m grown, I see people come from all over the world to experience this little known state in the southwest of these United States. They fall in love with the landscape, the sunsets, the weather, the people… and most of all the food!!!! Then they go back home and look for some New Mexico taste treats and, until now, could not find one jar of New Mexico chile, red or green, much less salsa that could transport them back to the enchantment of New Mexico for just a few savory moments. It just could not be found!
And that is why Mom and I embarked on this epicurean adventure, creating “My Favorite New Mexico Foods”! We have made it our mission to send these authentic, traditional New Mexico products to every part of our country, from the North, the South, the East and yes, even the West. Because, we have found that even our neighboring states do not know much about our seemingly well kept culinary secret: the New Mexico red and green chile! We hope that you soon share our passion for this cuisine that is uniquely New Mexico and want you to consider these products as New Mexico’s gift from our family to yours.
